If you know me then you know that I am a sucker for a deal.  I have been known to draw a crowd in a store while squealing in delight over a good deal on an item (embarrassing but true), so it is no surprise how much I love thrifting and garage sales.  I could spend everyday of my life thrifting and never get tired of it! I see a garage sale and my heart starts racing with excitement.  Give me a choice between the spa or thrifting, and I will almost always choose thrifting (do you get the picture)! I love to find old things and if there is a story behind the item even better!

Today my neighbors down the block were having a garage sale so of course I had to be neighborly and check out the goods, right? I was so excited when I found this little baby in all of its fabulousness (yes, it’s a word)!

I was so pumped because I had been looking for a desk just like this for my little guys room but everytime I see them they are sooooo expensive.  I tried to play it cool and pretend that I wasn’t that excited about it (garage sale poker face) so I looked around a bit before casualing asking how much they wanted for the desk. I literally almost peed my pants when she said $5.00, WHAT!  Five bucks???? For a vintage 1950′s metal desk in perfect condition??? SOLD!!!!! Yipeeeee!  I practically danced all the way home while dragging this bad boy down the street (and it ain’t light).

So if that isn’t cool enough, get this.  It has a story!!!  I told the owner that I was buying it for my little guy who needed a desk in his room.  Turns out it used to belong to the little boy that lived in our house years ago, and rumor has it he lived in the same room that my little guy sleeps in.  Pretty cool huh? Yes, and a little creepy. Kind of has all the makings of a Stephen King novel.   Anyway, I guess the desk is meant to live here!  Let’s just hope it doesn’t come alive at night or anything, LOL!
